God takes the souls of the dead and the souls of the living while they sleep. He keeps hold of those whose death He has ordained and sends the others back until their appointed time. Surely, in this, there are signs for a people who ponder. (39:42)

And when adversity touches man, he calls upon Us. Then when We bestow on him a favor from Us, he says, "I have only been given it because of my knowledge." Rather, it is a trial, but most of them do not know. (39.49)

Do they not know that Allah gives abundant or limited provisions to whoever He wills? Surely in this are signs for people who believe. (39.52)

Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful. Turn to your Lord. Submit to Him before the punishment overtakes you and you can no longer be helped. And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not perceive, Lest a person should say: “Alas for me for neglecting my duty towards Allah and for being among those that scoffed”". (39.53-56)

On the Day of Judgment you will see those who lied about Allah with their faces gloomy. Is Hell not a fitting home for the arrogant? But God will deliver those who took heed of Him to their place of safety: no harm will touch them, nor will they grieve. (39.60-61)

Every soul will be paid in full for its deeds, for Allah knows best what they have done. (39.70)

None disputes the signs of Allah except the disbelievers, so do not be deceived by their prosperity throughout the land. (40.4)

This Day every soul will be recompensed for what it earned. No injustice today! Indeed, Allāh is swift in account. (40.17)


Have they not travelled throughout the land to see what was the end of those before them? They were far superior in might and richer in monuments throughout the land. But Allah seized them for their sins, and they had no protector from Allah. That was because their messengers used to come to them with clear proofs, but they persisted in disbelief. So Allah seized them. Surely He is All-Powerful, severe in punishment. (40.21)

And Pharaoh said, "Let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord. Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or that he will cause corruption in the land." (40.27)

O my people! This worldly life is only enjoyment, whereas the Hereafter is truly the home of settlement. (40.39)

Indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand. (40.51)

So be patient, Allah’s promise is certainly true. Seek forgiveness for your shortcomings. And glorify the praises of your Lord morning and evening. (40.55)

The creation of the heavens and earth is greater than the creation of mankind, but most of the people do not know. (40.57)

Your Lord has proclaimed, “Call upon Me, I will respond to you. Surely those who are too proud to worship Me will enter Hell, fully humbled.” (40.60)

Allah is the One who made for you the earth a place to live, and the sky a roof, and shaped you, and made your shapes so good - and provided you with a lot of good things. That is Allah, your Lord. So, Glorious is Allah, the Lord of the worlds. (40.64)

So be patient. Surely Allah’s promise is true. (40.77)

Have they not travelled throughout the land to see what was the end of those before them? They were far superior in number and might and richer in monuments throughout the land, but their gains were of no benefit to them. When their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they were prideful in whatever knowledge they had, and were overwhelmed by what they used to ridicule. (40.82-83)

A Scripture whereof the verses are expounded, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge. (41.3)

Surely those who say, “Our Lord is Allah,” and then remain steadfast, the angels descend upon them, “Do not fear, nor grieve. Rather, rejoice in the good news of Paradise, which you have been promised. We are your supporters in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. There you will have whatever your souls desire, and there you will have whatever you ask for:" (41.30-31)

Good and evil cannot be equal. Respond with what is best, then the one you are in a feud with will be like a close friend.
But this cannot be attained except by those who are patient and who are truly fortunate. (41.34-35)
