Each community has its own direction to which it turns: race to do good deeds and wherever you are, God will bring you together. God has power to do everything. (2.148)

O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allāh is with the patient. (2.153)

We will certainly test you with a touch of fear and famine and loss of property, life, and crops. Give good news to those who patiently endure, who, when a suffering visits them, say: “We certainly belong to Allah, and to Him we are bound to return.” (2.155-156)

O humanity! Eat from what is lawful and good on the earth (2.168)

He only orders you to evil and immorality and to say about Allāh what you do not know. (2.169)

You who believe, eat the good things We have provided for you and be grateful to God. (2:172)

Indeed, those who hide Allah’s revelations, trading them for a fleeting gain consume nothing but fire into their bellies. Allah will neither speak to them on the Day of Judgment, nor will He purify them. And they will suffer a painful punishment. (2:174)

Goodness does not consist in turning your face towards East or West. The truly good are those who believe in God and the Last Day, in the angels, the Scripture, and the prophets; who give away some of their wealth, however much they cherish it, to their relatives, to orphans, the needy, travelers and beggars, and to liberate those in bondage; those who keep up the prayer and pay the prescribed alms; who keep pledges whenever they make them; who are steadfast in misfortune, adversity, and times of danger. These are the ones who are true, and it is they who are aware of God. (2.177)

Do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly, nor deliberately bribe authorities in order to devour a portion of others’ property, knowing that it is a sin. (2.188)

Fight in the way of Allāh those who fight against you but do not transgress. Indeed, Allāh does not like transgressors. (2.190)

Fight them until there is no more persecution, and worship is devoted to God. If they cease hostilities, there can be no further hostility, except towards aggressors. (2.193)

So, if anyone attacks you, retaliate in the same manner. (2.194)

Spend in the way of Allah and do not put yourselves into destruction, and do good. Of course, Allah loves those who do good. (2.195)

Now among the people there is one who says: “Our Lord, give to us in this world...” and he has no share in the Hereafter. Yet there is another among them who says: “Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of Fire.” They will have the share they have worked for: God is swift in reckoning. (2.200-202)

The life of this world is made to seem glamorous to the disbelievers, and they laugh at those who believe. But those who are mindful of God will be above them on the Day of Resurrection: God provides immeasurably for whoever He pleases. (2.212)

Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while such trial]has not yet come to you as came to those who passed on before you? They were touched by poverty and hardship and were shaken until even their messenger and those who believed with him said, "When is the help of Allāh?" Unquestionably, the help of Allāh is near. (2.214)

They ask you as to what they should spend. Say: “Whatever good you spend should be for parents, kinsmen, orphans, the needy and the wayfarer; and whatever good you do, Allah is all-aware of it.” (2.215)

Fighting is ordained for you, though you dislike it. You may dislike something although it is good for you, or like something although it is bad for you: God knows and you do not. (2.216)

They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, “In both there is great sin, and some benefits for people. And their sin is greater than their benefit.”(2.219)

And they ask you as to what they should spend. Say, “The surplus”. (2.219)

And make not Allah's name an excuse in your oaths against doing good, or acting rightly, or making peace between persons. (2.224)

There is no blame upon you whether you hint at a marriage proposal to such women or keep the proposal hidden in your hearts. Allah knows that you will think of them in that connection. But do not make any secret engagement with them and speak openly in an honorable manner. (2.235)

Fight in God’s cause and remember that He is all hearing and all knowing. (2.244)

Who will give God a good loan, which He will increase for him many times over? It is God who withholds and God who gives abundantly, and it is to Him that you will return. (2.245)

Their prophet said to them, ‘God has now appointed Talut to be your king,’ but they said, ‘How can he be king over us when we have a greater right to rule than he? He does not even have great wealth.’ He said, ‘God has chosen him over you, and has given him great knowledge and stature. God grants His authority to whoever He pleases: God is magnanimous, all knowing.’ (2.247)

If God did not drive some back by means of others the earth would be completely corrupt, but God is bountiful to all. (2.251)
